Community Advocacy Programme (CAP)

The Community Advocacy Programme (CAP), an initiative of the CIA Foundation, is designed to enhance educational opportunities for underprivileged and disadvantaged students. Recognising the vital role of community involvement in educational success, CAP focuses on mobilising community resources and support for these students’ educational needs.

Our programme aims to advocate for the importance of education within communities, empower parents and guardians in supporting their children’s education, foster partnerships with local stakeholders to improve educational opportunities and identify and tackle barriers to education specific to each community. The target audience for CAP includes parents and guardians in underprivileged communities, local community leaders, educational institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.

CAP’s strategies involve organising workshops and seminars for parents and community leaders, developing and distributing informational materials on the importance of education, collaborating with local schools, NGOs, and government bodies, and engaging local businesses and philanthropists to support educational initiatives. We also focus on capacity building, training community volunteers as education advocates, and providing resources and support to parents for active educational involvement.

Implementation of CAP is overseen by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and coordinated by the Executive Director of the Programme and coordinators who manage operations and partnerships, with the support of volunteers who conduct outreach and facilitate community activities. Partners contribute support, resources, and expertise. The programme operates annually, with a budget for workshops, materials, training sessions, and human resources.

To ensure the programme’s effectiveness and relevance, CAP undergoes an annual review process that involves assessing the impact of advocacy efforts and gathering feedback from participants and stakeholders. This evaluation process allows for ongoing improvement and adaptation. Any stakeholder can propose policy amendments, which must be reviewed and approved by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

The Community Advocacy Programme is vital to the CIA Foundation’s mission to promote education in underprivileged communities. Through collaborative efforts and strategic advocacy, CAP is dedicated to making a lasting impact on the educational landscape, empowering generations both now and in the future.
